Yes we are, yes we are, moving to Italia!

This title can be sung as a song–which my sister and her family composed. Today is the day! After the conception of this crazy idea in November last year, we will be leaving beautiful France and arriving via train in our new home city, Torino. There are few things that I enjoy more in life than the moment right before arriving at a new place.

None of us have ever been to Torino, yet somewhere in that city is the apartment where we will live (spoiler, we already have a signed lease), a cafe that will become our favorite, a pizzeria and gelateria that the kids will insist on visiting. We’ll know where the best bike share spot is and what day the farmers’ market is. Right now, we know nothing! We get to arrive blissfully blank and fill up our own pages of the city.

We are all very excited to study Italian even more diligently, now that we can step onto the street and practice. It will be nice to hear a language every day that we have been getting to know over the past six months. The kids can’t wait to go to the uniform store to get fully outfitted for their new international school.

The question that I get the most is “What are you going to DO?”. I am always a little surprised by it. I think friends and family know that we are industrious worker bees, usually filling every minute of our lives with work, plans and activities. The whole point of this year is we don’t know what we are going to do. We want to enjoy living in a city without having to rush off to work every day. We want time as a family. We want to spend time together as a couple. We want to take fantastic holidays all over Europe. We gave ourselves the gift of this year and we plan to enjoy every minute of it.

But first, we need to get on that train. Italy awaits!
